What is the difference between .22 Hornet and a .22 LR?

I don't understand the difference between the two, but I'm told .22 hornet is more powerful, and if so what are some good brands to shop for these kinds of rifles? I think I would prefer to buy a .22 hornet, and I'm left handed, so what rifle manufacturer should I look to?
