Boy-friend wont commit, what do i do?

So i'm only a freshman in college, and ive been seeing this guy for a few months now, We have been friends for a couple years and he makes me really happy. He claimed he wanted to be in an exclusive relationship and after we built up enough trust i was ready to be with him, Everything was fine for a couple weeks when all of a sudden he claims he wants to be "unofficially official" Now i just feel like a booty call but i cant help but like the guy, i don't know what to do :( i really am ready for a relationship. is it that impossible to find a single decent guy these days?!?!
