I asked someone out for morp but a guy later asked her out and she said yes?!?

Ok I know this might sound a little odd, but there is this girl at my school that I was friends with; nothing special, just friends, and yadda yadda yadda I unofficially asked her to the dance (I did go up to her and ask her, but I didn't want to go with her romantically, just as friends. Btw, is that possible lol?). So anyway today I was talking to her about the dance and how much fun it is, and then she goes "Oh ya, Jared (one of her best guy friends) asked me to the dance; sorry, I can't really go with you anymore." Now I am not angry or pissed off at all, I just find it very weird that she would agree to go with another guy after I asked her. What is your guys' opinion on this? Should I say anything to her? And no I'm not going to fight her date because he is a cool guy and we're aquaintances, I just find it weird that he asked her after I asked her and she agreed to go with him.
