Hornets wasp yellow jackets? ?

My piano teacher has what I believe to be a hornets nest above her door. Every time her husband knocks it down they seem to come back faster and in bigger swarms. It is a small nest now but I'm horrified and have no idea what to do. They've tried to attack me multiple times and it's starting to piss me off. My piano teacher is foreign to what these insects can do because she's from a country where these practically don't exist. What should I do I'm scared and get sick at the thought of getting stung?
