Help with Ex please??!?

I don't understand my Ex's feelings for me. we've been unofficially "dating" for almost 6 months now. He pays for everything, and has been acting like a boyfriend at times. Lately though I asked him, because I really want to be in a relationship rather than whatever it is we are (which is not friends with benefits because he said he never considered us that) so I asked him recently if he was still unable to tell me how he feels. he said that that was a good way to put it. he said he doesn't know how he feels. I asked if he didn't have feelings for me he said he didn't say that and that he was unable to fully interpret his feelings. He came to visit my school on the first and third day of my summer school in college to see me. we madeout and stuff and later I asked if we were friends with benefits question ( he said no and asked if i thought we were). I don't know what we are, keep asking once in a while throughout 6 months, but he can't say, but he shows me majority of the times. I invited him recently to see captain america movie soon which he hates captain america but agreed to see it with me. he's a taurus (if that makes any difference). Im not chasing as hard as i was before because im not sure what to do or think.... help please!!
