HELP. Why did my friend say this? What is going on with the guy I like?

The guy I like is friends with this girl who is not attractive and not really smart or anything, but apparently every guy says she's very easy. My friend who doesn't know him that well says she thinks they might be interested in each other or might be unofficially dating, but she hasn't even seen them flirt or touch each other. It's just that they hang out all the time.
